PAST EXHIBITIONS

BOB MATHENY
"Social protest, de-segregation, assassinations, anti-war demonstrations, censorship, conflict, controversy, art events and student/faculty growth all contributed to the spirit of a dynamic and exciting ten year period, more or less, of the art department's evolving history. And the art students were terrific!" Bob Matheny comments on his thirty years as an art teacher at Southwestern College (1961-1991) and 12 years (on and off) of running the gallery on campus.

For 18 years, Lowe has been inspired and challenged to make work that is visually seductive, viscerally engaging, but also provocative in its critique of how we live in relation to other species and the environment. Lowe enjoys creating artwork that tackles difficult issues such as over-development, sex, power and the widespread mistreatment of animals.
