Mark Jonathan Welch was born in 1973 and started painting in 2001. This
self-taught artist, with less than a few months of painting under his
belt, developed his own style, and it became apparent how much he loved
to focus on color and design.
Pointillism is a technique of painting in which a lot of tiny dots are
combined to form a picture. Mark spends between 5 and 50 hours to complete
one painting. Each dot is placed on the canvas by the back of a paint
brush, using acrylic paint.
Mark is a California
native with Cherokee Indian in his lineage a few generations back, and
his mother is Chinese. With his culture-rich background and his love
and appreciation for Aboriginal, Asian, Indian and Native American art,
he finds himself inspired to paint in this unique way. He loves the
creative side of painting as well as the technical side.Mark has painted
over a hundred pieces, sold them world-wide and displayed many of his
paintings throughout San Diego. He is currently seeking venues in which
to display and market his artwork.
